The European Student Summit on Open Access: May 20th & 21st, 2011

On May 20th & 21st, the Right to Research Coalition will host the first annual European Student Summit on Open Access at Humboldt University in Berlin.  The goal of this meeting is to bring together students from leading European and international student organizations to discuss how the issue of access to research affects each organization and to create a strategy for getting European students engaged in opening access to the results of research. Below please find the tentative schedule, agenda, logistical details, and information on our special guests:

Tentative Schedule

Friday, May 20th:

15:00-18:30: Check-in at the hotel
18:30-20:00: Reception at the hotel
20:00-21:30: Meet in lobby then proceed to dinner (@ Cafe Aufsturz)
21:30: Free time

Saturday, May 21st:

8:20-8:30: Meet in lobby of the hotel to travel to the meeting venue at Humboldt University
9:00-9:15: Light breakfast at meeting venue
9:15-12:30: Morning session
12:30-13:10: Lunch
13:10-17:00: Afternoon session
17:00-19:00: Free time
19:00-21:00: Meet in hotel lobby then proceed to dinner (@ Oranium)
21:00-22:30: Free time
22:30: Social program (meet in hotel lobby at 22:30)

Sunday, May 22nd:

8:00-10:00: Departure (must check out by 10:00)


The participant packet can be found here.  The packet includes the agenda, a list of suggested preparation, and two of our print resources for you to review. Please review each of the items in the packet, especially the suggested preparation, before the meeting.

Logistical Details

Hotel: All participants will be staying at the Meininger Hotel Berlin Central Station (Hauptbahnhof) located at Ella-Trebe-Straße 9 (map below).  Hotel reservations for each participant have already been made, so if you've confirmed your accommodations with us, then you'll be able to check-in using your own name on Friday.

Venue: Our meeting will take place in room 12 of the Berlin School of Library and Information Science (Institut für Bibliotheks und Informationswissenschaft) at Humboldt University.  We will leave from the hotel at 8:30 on Saturday morning to travel over to the meeting venue together.
